Though the Kolkata real estate market is not consider to be the most vibrant market in the country, but new launches of flats in Kolkata are thus witnessing across the segments. The market for both the premium as well as the affordable category of the residential segment seems to be good in 2012. Since, there were no major industrial developments in West Bengal, the demand for the commercial property seems to be highly sluggish. In the year 2013, the market over here is stagnant owing to the lower demand for the luxury real estate in the city. It is increasingly difficult in order to secure the government approvals for all the new projects. Hence, the rising cost of building materials remain much more concern for the developers. The projects which were launched in the mid 2011 was falling in the rate Rs 3400 per sq ft has now jumped to Rs 5400.
